Durango Aikido invites adults 18 and up to learn Aikido. Win the battles within as Aikido teaches self-refinement through self-defense. Beginning writers and seasoned procrastinators are invited to a 2-part writing class with award-winning local author Jenny Mason. Learn how 20 minutes of daily writing wards off brain aging and relieves anxiety, according to recent neuroscience. Discover the secret of forming a daily writing habit and more. Workout using your own body weight or light hand weights to work all the body parts! The free classes are always similar in style but always different moves to keep it fun and fresh. You’ll need a yoga mat & light hand weights. If you don’t have them, they are extras that can be used. Each class is around 35 min. long. Modifications are always available. It’s always a fun, upbeat, encouraging, and a great workout. Taught by Tammy Williams, certified fitness instructor. All ages and fitness levels are welcome! The Durango Arts Center presents the exhibit Leonard Davies: The Joys of Painting as a Pastime January 9 - February 28, 2026 in the Barbara Conrad Gallery. Davies retired from a distinguished career as a civil rights attorney, and began oil painting at the age of 70. His show features southwest landscapes, and is free to the public Tuesday - Saturday, Noon - 6 pm. An opening reception will take place from 5-7 pm, Friday, January 9.
The Pine River Library invites the public to their monthly "Bookmarks" Book Discussion group on the second Wednesday of each month at 2PM. The April selection is: "The Book of Hope" by Jane Goodall and in May: "One of Us is Lying," by Karen McManus. Details are at prlibrary.org.
